Because Air Matters

The average person spends 90% of their time indoors of which 70% is spent inside their own home, good indoor air quality is vital to a healthy living environment.

In 2009, a report from The National House Building Council (NHBC) concluded that indoor air could be up to 5 times more polluted than outdoor air. This means that in addition to the general moisture build-up from washing, bathing, cooking and breathing, a large concoction of other pollutants and contaminants are lurking within the air in our homes. These include Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), created by the use of aerosols and formaldehydes which are found in furniture and carpets, chemicals from cleaning products and allergens from house dust mites. Even Radon gas, which is prevalent in some areas of the country, can find its way into our homes exposing us to potentially harmful levels of radon derived dust.

Poor indoor air quality can lead to a number of ailments such as headaches, fatigue, sinus congestion and a dry throat. What’s more, people who suffer from asthma and allergies are usually more susceptible to indoor nasties such as dust mites, mould spores and VOC’s.

Entry to the competition is now closed. The winner will be announced shortly.

As part our mission to bring fresh, clean air into our homes, We have launched the ‘Because air matters campaign’ in order to raise public awareness about poor indoor air quality and the effects it can have on our health. The campaign aims to get everyone involved, families, couples and individuals, irrespective of age, challenging them to blow away the cobwebs by getting outside and being active. The fun starts here with a competition to win an exciting hot air balloon ride.

Our units work by delivering fresh, filtered and clean air into the home, gently ventilating it using a technique called Positive Input Ventilation (PIV).

This method dilutes high humidity levels, and by doing so, reduces the potential dust mite population which is good news for asthma and allergy sufferers. This is also good news for homes with high levels of Radon as this type of ventilation helps to gently force the contaminated air out of the property.

Asthma Inhaler
Over the past twenty years, hundreds of thousands of homes across the UK have benefitted from having a PIV unit installed. Not only have the units improved indoor air quality, solved mould and condensation issues, but they also have had a positive effect on some of the occupants with asthma and allergies. One delighted customer said his daughter had not needed to use her inhaler inside the home since he had a unit fitted.
